Why We Started

Adrenal Insufficiency Protocols began to promote the establishment of protocols in Florida, where they did not exist before for an adrenal crisis. In 2015, Ian Mignone worked with the Medical Director for the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to establish a protocol for Duval County. Following that success, Ian began reaching out to other Florida counties, including St. John’s, which has now revised a protocol to include acute adrenal insufficiency.

Jennifer Knapp, one of the founding members of Adrenal Insufficiency United, provided details about raising awareness and the steps required to set protocols in place. Spreading awareness and working together is essential so that those affected by Adrenal Insufficiency have access to the care they need.
