We are you! Volunteers dedicated to spreading awareness for adrenal insufficiency. With your help we can ensure those affected by AI receive the emergency care they need throughout Florida. If you would like to help establish protocols please use the contact page to reach us. Ian is currently a junior at Cornell University. His interest in adrenal insufficiency began due to his mother’s condition, Addison’s Disease.  When he was 15 he volunteered at UF Health’s emergency department and discovered that emergency response protocols were lacking in Jacksonville and across the country. 

In 2015, Ian worked with Dr. Elias, The Medical Director for JFRD of Duval County to establish a protocol for Jacksonville. Finding success, he began reaching out to other counties across the state of Florida. He worked with St. John’s County to revise a protocol to include acute adrenal insufficiency, and from there began to push for other counties to follow suit. Subsequently, Ian has worked with Medical Directors throughout the state and added protocols for EMS personnel in Broward, Clay, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Orange, Osceola, Santa Rosa, Seminole, and Volusia Counties. 

In 2007, Wendy was diagnosed with primary adrenal insufficiency or Addison’s Disease. Through the group Adrenal Insufficiency United, she connected with other individuals diagnosed with adrenal disorders. She since connected with medical professionals, advocates, and patients all focused  on the treatment of adrenal insufficiency. She has attended numerous rare disease conferences throughout the U.S. Wendy continues advocating for new treatments for her health as well as working on protocols to protect people who suffer from rare diseases. In 2018, she was elected to the Board of Directors of Danny’s Dose, a non-profit dedicated to changing legislation nationwide to enhance invaluable services to the rare disease community. 

Renee has a young son with adrenal insufficiency and worked with Volusia County to establish an EMS protocol for an adrenal crisis. She is also working on establishing a protocol that would allow Florida school teachers to administer the life saving injection to a student with adrenal insufficiency having an adrenal crisis.

Renee is dedicated to helping children suffering from adrenal insufficiency find a safe environment in the Florida school system.

Fran is the mother of a daughter with another rare disease Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), an adrenal insufficiency disorder she has had from birth. Fran worked with Leon County to have training and a protocol put in place.

Her passion for bringing rare diseases to the forefront of legislation is a testament to her dedication  to help others.
